Greyhounds as Pets Overview
Adopt a Greyhound - Make a Fast Friend!
The Palm Beach Kennel Club is very interested in the welfare of our greyhounds. And that interest remains long after the dogs' racing days are over.
Greyhounds who are retired need the love and compassion of an individual or family that can care for them. And they make great pets; they are gentle, friendly, affectionate and are easy to care for. Because of their wonderful temperament, they are great with children. They make excellent walking and jogging companions and easily settle into a life of retirement.
The Kennel Club works with two of the best Greyhound Adoption agencies in the country, Greyhound Pets of America and Elite Greyhounds. Both groups operate in similar fashion, screening and informing potential adoptees in order to find the right Greyhound for the right person or family. All three are active in the community, participating in parades, festivals, visiting hospitals, nursing homes and other care centers. The three agencies rely on numerous volunteers to help promote this very good cause. These volunteers are frequent visitors to the track, returning with adopted family members to discuss the joys of Greyhound adoption with interested visitors.
