ROONEY’S ANNUAL 5K RUN/WALK BIGGEST EVER! The 5th Annual Rooney’s Breaks Records for Attendance & Donations West Palm Beach, FL, June 6, 2012 – The 5th Annual Rooney’s 5k Run/Walk was held on Saturday, April 14th in Abacoa, Jupiter. This year’s run raised a record $22,500 for Autism Project of Palm Beach County, FAU Honors College, Pathways to Independence and Potentia Academy with the help of sponsorships and 1,120 participants. The headline sponsors were Wells Fargo and Bettor Racing OTB; presenting sponsor was Maroone Cadillac and participating sponsors Joseph C. Kempe, PA and Bonneau Accounting Services. “It was a fantastic turnout and our biggest Rooney’s 5k ever! The number of runners, monies raised and most of all, the enthusiam topped all of our previous races. A special thanks to Race Director, Dave Ragsdale, as well as our volunteers and sponsors for all of their efforts. We couldn't have done it without them! Thanks again to all the runners and volunteers,” said Alexis Barbish, Race Coordinator. . A pre-registration party was held at Rooney's Public House in Abacoa the night before the race. All sponsors and participants were invited to pick up their numbers, goodie bags, and T-shirts while dining on the Carb Buffet or Irish favorites and listening to live music. The course had participants starting on University Drive, traveling on South Central Blvd and crossing the finish line in front of Rooney's Public House. The Kids 1 Mile was a big hit with children from 3-14 years old participating. Prior to the awards ceremony, all were treated to a breakfast feast featuring Rooney’s world famous Irish Toast.
This family event also includes appearances by Ace the Poker Bear and Hamilton R. Head of the Jupiter Hammerheads plus music by Jody Pollard, complimentary massages and raffle prizes from various businesses. Next year’s Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, April 13th on the streets of downtown Abacoa in Jupiter. ## Rooney’s Golf Foundation is now preparing for its 11th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 25, 2012. Since 2001, Rooney’s Golf Foundation has donated over $287,000 to local Palm Beach County charities. |
